Nigeria Sports Celebrating passion, talent and excellence

About us

About SitesNG

One home for every sport played in Nigeria: 38 sports, 66 athlete profiles and weekly African sports news, independently researched and fact checked.

Why SitesNG exists

Nigeria plays far more sport than most people realise. Beyond football and athletics there are Nigerian archers, bobsledders, fencers, polo players, rowers, squash players and scuba divers, and many of them are almost invisible online. What information exists is often scattered, outdated or never written down at all.

SitesNG brings it all together in one place. Our aim is simple: to showcase every sport played in Nigeria, document its history, teams, leagues and federations, and build the biggest collection of profiles of athletes of Nigerian origin, at home and around the world.

What you will find

  • 38 sports, each with its own home page, history, national team, leagues or competitions, players and federation contact page.
  • 66 athlete profiles so far, from legends such as Hakeem Olajuwon to today’s stars, each tied to the athlete’s Nigerian roots.
  • African Sports News, a weekly edition with 18 full stories this week on Nigerian and African athletes making headlines, with every story archived at a permanent address.
  • Records and statistics for Nigeria at the Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and African Games.

In total SitesNG now has more than 330 pages, and it grows every week.

How we work: our editorial standards

  • Checked facts. We check names, dates, results and statistics against federations, official results services and reputable media, and show when key figures were last checked.
  • Named sources. Each page names the outlets and organisations we relied on.
  • Real, credited photos. We use genuine photos under free licences or with permission, with the photographer and licence credited under every image. We never present an AI image as a photo of a real athlete or event; any AI illustration is general and clearly labelled.
  • Corrections. If something is wrong, tell us. Confirmed corrections are made quickly and the page’s checked date is updated.
  • Independence. SitesNG is not owned by or affiliated with any federation, club, league or athlete. Advertising pays for the site, but advertisers have no say over what we write, and ads are always labelled.
