Who is Diego Simeone?
Diego “Cholo” Simeone has coached Atlético Madrid since 2011, making him the longest-serving manager in any of Europe’s top divisions.
As a tough-tackling midfielder he won a double with Atlético in 1996, the UEFA Cup with Inter in 1998 and a double with Lazio in 2000. He won more than 100 caps for Argentina, played at three World Cups and won the Copa América in 1991 and 1993.
He won league titles in Argentina with Estudiantes and River Plate before turning Atlético into title winners, breaking the Real Madrid and Barcelona duopoly to win LaLiga twice.
