The biggest stories from Europe’s top leagues

  • Perfect starts. Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City (5 from 5), Hansi Flick’s Barcelona (7 from 7) and Niko Kovač’s Borussia Dortmund (4 from 4) are the only Big 5 clubs still with a 100% league record.
  • Raphinha is on fire. Twelve LaLiga goals already, including two hat-tricks three days apart.
  • Three-way tie in Italy. Roma, Inter and Lazio are level on 13 points, and Roma’s Donyell Malen leads the scoring charts.
  • The sack race has started. Valencia, Fiorentina, Bologna, Parma, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Lens have all changed coach since the season began.
  • Champions League. Holders Paris Saint-Germain opened with a 6-1 win; Matchday 2 is on 13 and 14 October.
